LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! Become a part of the Castleberry Hill event of the year-FLUX 2010.  Now even your furpal can get in on the action.  On Friday Oct 1st, there will be a moving light exhibit, featuring local dogs. Put at least one light source (battery operated, of course) on your dog. Meet-up at the Elliot Street Pub, and parade through the Castleberry neighborhood to the Railside Dog Park, where the participants will get to unleash a lighted furry!

Schedule: 7pm- meet at Elliot Street Pub (51 Elliott St)-parade down COP/Walker St./Haynes St./Peters St. to Railside Dog Park (210 Peters St, SW), the final destination. Then at 8:30pm-an improvisational light show performed by your four-legged friends.  I’ve gotta say it…sounds like a howlin’ good time!

If you’d like to participate, You’ll need to RSVP by Sat, Sept 18th (I just get the info on this, so not sure if you can still RSVP) but either way…should be fun to watch!

Splish Splash Doggie Bash**

This sounds like so much fun!  The Piedmont Park Conservancy invites Atlanta’s four legged citizens to an end of season pool party – Let your pooches cool off in the pool at the Piedmont Park Aquatic Center.

Mark your calendars:  Sat, September 18th. There are 2 time slots, pick 12:00-1:15pm OR 1:45-3:00pm. Tickets prices are $10 in advance, or $15 at the door (if space is available) **2nd date added Saturday, September 25th Noon-2pm!

They will have live music, dog-related vendors, goody bags, prizes and more! Proceeds from this event will benefit the off-leash area and general maintenance of the Park as it relates to visitors with pets. There is a fee and rules (make sure you read them).   And hey, it’s dogs only in the pool, they can’t swim during your time, so don’t try to swim during theirs!

Have you heard about the new dog area at Piedmont Park?

The new Piedmont Dog Park is sporting a 3 acre dog run, separate areas for large & small dogs (nice!), trails and benches and bathrooms…oh my! It just opened 2 weeks ago and I recommend going with your furpals to check it out!!  The weather is a little cooler than when it opened, so use that area all you can Atlanta!

Atlantic Station presents a great movie for pet-lovers on Thursday Aug 19th (and again on Friday Aug 20th*, during the BarkWorld Conference). “Best in Show” will start a dusk (around 8PMish) and is projected on a giant screen in the Central Park area.  The movie is FREE,  so come over and hang out with all your dog lovin’ friends, and see this hilarious  film!  Bring a picnic lunch or come early to check-out one of the great restaurants in the complex.

*Bring your picnic basket, pets, and blankets for a special showing of two pet-friendly movies “Best in Show” & “My Dog” (documentary).
